Bellator Learning Studio
Courses offered:
Students at Bellator Learning Studio will build quality relationships with one another while exploring the core subjects of a solid education.
Core Subjects:
History
Textbooks, projects, discussions, and presentations will guide students’ learning. Mastery of content, as demonstrated through student projects, will determine a student’s grade.
Literature
Families will be encouraged to read all literature aloud to stimulate conversations and a shared culture in literature. Projects and quality of participation in Socratic discussions will determine a student’s grade.
Math
Students progress at their own pace. When students demonstrate mastery of a unit (70% or better on an assessment), they may move to the next unit of study. Classes are offered for Pre-algebra – Advanced Calculus.
Science
Students will use a textbook, watch videos, and conduct research as they study various topics. Completed homework, discussion participation, lab participation, and vocabulary quizzes will determine a student's grade.
Writing
Students will learn the art and mechanics of writing through in-class instruction, sharing ideas with classmates, and submitting papers for critique by a teacher. Successful completion of writing checklists will determine a student's grade.
Art
Students will explore a variety of artistic techniques in a non-threatening environment that teaches students that art is both fun and enriching.
Optional electives:
French
Students will use textbooks and workbooks in addition to video conversations of native speakers to learn the basics of the French language and correct pronunciation. Students will complete homework and assessments to keep track of their progress throughout the course.
